Dev Meeting 2014-04-20

Talad says: ok, let’s start
Karzela says: So good to see that charming mount of yours too Damola.
Talad says: welcome to the meet the developers event
Talad says: this event is completely OOC
Talad says: we can speak about the game itself, features, future plans, …
Talad says: in particular we release 0.6.1 recently and will be good to get some feedback on it
Talad says: here on stage we have myself as project manager
Talad says: and Eredin part of the engine team
Talad says: he worked on the new shortbut bar, active magi window and many other
Talad says: Eredin , please summarize what you are working on at the moment
Talad says: I will then summarize the other departments
Eredin says: I have added spell duration timers to the active magic bar icons
Eredin says: and a coundowntime to the tooltip if you hover over one of the acive magic bar icons
Menille says: Very nice,
Kiaerulf nods and smiles “Nice”
Damola says: Thats all post 0.6.1 now, I bet.
Eredin says: yes. it is available inthe svn build, or else you’ll ave to get it wij 0.6.2
Talad says: yes, those changes are client side, so will require a new client
Talad says: about the other updates…
Talad says: setting team is working hard on the next setting release, which should now happen at any time
Kiaerulf says: … soon ™
Talad says: I’m reviewing some books part of the release
Kiaerulf says: 😉
Talad says: some of the books are quite interesting
Talad says: including additional information of culture and traditions of the various races
Talad says: books on religions
Talad says: and some journals of famous mages
Jarrh chuckles at Kiaerulf’s commnt
Talad says: I think it’s about 30 books
Damola makes “Wow!”
Jerada says: awesome
Talad says: the changes to quests are pretty impressive as well, with smoother transitions between quests, and new ones
Talad says: the new ones are also enabling some new crafting.
Talad says: I think it will be overall a pretty good setting release
Jarrh smiles at the news of new crafting
Talad says: another part being worked on is the combat system
Talad says: now that we have the new combat system in place in the client, we can test it much more
Talad says: Jilare did lot of work to clean it up and improve it lately
Talad says: meanwhile the rules department is working on the special moves
Talad says: which will appear in your client pretty soon
Jawir says: I can’t wait 🙂
Talad says: those 2 last parts are only server side, and so we could release it withuot any client side update
Shkirr says: Without animations, I guess…
Talad says: yes without any animations at this point
Talad says: but those are planned
Talad says: as the new system allows two handed weapons
Damola imaginges Shkirr doing his special “Shkirr – I confuse you so much you wouldn´t even fight me” move and starts giggling a bit
Jarrh ‘s eyebrows hit his collar at the two-handed weapon news
Damola says: Will weapons like quarterstaff then also two-handed?
Damola says: Actually I always wonder how Damola can handle a quarterstaff and a shield at th same time.
Talad says: mostly likely yes
Damola smiles
Talad says: even if some can be used single handed
Waesed says: Jilare said it would
Talad says: the new system is pretty powerful and “just” requires us to fill in the missing rules
Talad says: this is pretty much what we are working on at the moment
Talad says: art and music side there are small updates
Sanrai’s ears twitch in interest.
Talad says: in art nothing major, as we need more developers in those areas
Kiaerulf says: How does all this affect pvp duels Talad ?
Damola asks “And in music?”
Talad says: it will affect pvp quite a bit
Damola laughs heartily at Nicoletta
Nicoletta looks down and stays very quiet.
Talad says: as special moves will greatly enhance the interactivity you will have with combat
Damola mutters “Did that too” and grins
Zwa says: PvP with music.
Talad says: so those small 5 boxes inside the info window
Zwa grins.
Talad says: will be your queue of attacks
Talad says: and you will have to fill the queue with the attacks you prefer
Talad says: real time
Damola says: otherwise char would stop fighting?
Talad says: if you don’t schedule anything, the default attack will happen
Talad says: like today
Damola nods
Talad says: ok, if you have questions or comments please walk to the stand in front of us
Sanrai says: What update to music?
Talad says: one thing I would like to know is your feedback on the new progression system
Talad says: I’ve read the comments on forums about it
Talad says: hi Jawir
Jawir says: Ok
Jawir says: Here I would first of all ask about neotens
Waesed says: It is one of the best improvents imo
Jawir says: 1) I noticed the loot is quite poor, could it be improved a bit?
Jarrh nods in agreement with waesed
Nicoletta nods, also in agreement with Waesed.
Jawir says: Since I’m an axe user I can’t get not much good from the neotens…
Talad says: I see ‘battle axe’ and ‘claymore’ both randomized
Damola also nods regarding the progression system
Talad says: then plate mail and blood
Talad says: that’s not bad considering the claymore is a special weapon
Talad says: (even if slow)
Jawir says: Ok, usually I get a load of armour pieces though!
Talad says: 20% probability on axe and claymore
Talad says: then random on the stats/specials
Talad says: KILL MORE! 🙂
Jawir says: XD
Eredin says: lol
Jawir says: Ok, I noticed another thing
Jawir says: When I get hit by neoten’s spell I earn Body Dev points, is that intended?
Jarrh claps at the kill more statement
Talad says: yes, that’s a problem we are aware of
Jawir nods
Waesed says: Whenever you take damage
Talad says: it’s not intended to the extent it grows now
Talad says: so we will have to tweak it
Jawir says: Ah ok!
Talad says: it’s one of the side effects of the new progression system
Talad says: which we have to tweak
Jawir says: About 0.6.1 I think I explained everything I think I said everything on my post into the thread…
Talad says: ok, thanks
Jawir says: 🙂
Damola says: Hello.
Damola says: About the progression system I have nothing to add to my lengthy post in the forum… I like it and I think it shows skill practiciing inbalances more clearly which need tweaks…
Damola says: … but as Damola is about to redecorate things a bit in a house… well I had some ideas.
Talad says: ok
Damola says: Would it be possible to make a balcony in a house usable, so that one can go there from inside the house to look outside… or… uhm, windows…
Shkirr says: Progressing armor skills require some npcclient fixes first I guess some devs know about huge bugs there…
Damola smiles
Nicoletta smiles and claps
Nicoletta says: speeches!! dramatic balcony speeches…
Damola ponders “Might challenge the engine a bit, I bet as different “worlds””
Talad says: you mean in a guildhouse, or across the city?
Damola says: In a guild house.
Waesed says: Stand on the table at Harn’s 😛
Talad says: is the balcony already there geometry-wise?
Damola nods “Or hide inside his house as a groffel” and grins
Damola shakes head “not in our guild house in Gug I bet… but some houses in Hyd have some.”
Talad says: if the geometry is already there, it’s just a matter of creating the “action locations”
Talad says: which are the meanings we use to create “doors” you can enter
Damola nods
Talad says: so a door from inside and one from outside
Talad says: it’s possible but requires some GM work
Talad says: I think we can give it for a tria free or something
Damola nods
Talad says: like hiring an artisan to do it.
Talad says: we really need to go into the direction of guildhouse taxes/fees
Damola will examine the guild house carefully, but really thinks it has no geometry for a balcony yet
Talad says: so money will have again more value
Damola waves with her millions and smiles…
Nicoletta says: lol Damola
Shkirr says: And GMs would not be happy about it…
Waesed checks his empty pockets
Damola says: If not in geometry I think… it would be difficult to do as geometry would need to be changed.
Talad says: maybe it can bring to the roof then
Damola claps excited “Cool!”
Talad says: but hydlaa houses are more suited for that
Damola grins “GMs beware, you may be poked by a lady on shopping tour.”
Damola says: Okay, then… I queue up for another question.
Jawir says: Sorry, I almost forgot… Should Lavaar drop weapons too? Nowadays there are very few reasons to visit that area… and since it’s the strongest foe currently, I expect to get a GOOD loot 😛
Talad says: mmm
Talad says: it should have some good loot
Talad says: he doesn’t?
Jawir says: The last time I checked he was dropping nothing!
Talad says: mmmm
Zwa whispers. “Kill more.”
Talad says: checking…
Jawir says: I don’t know if something has changed very recently
Talad says: oh yes
Ziuzynir says: at last one creature not eating steel!
Eredin says: “nothing” would definitely qualify as bad loot.
Talad says: there is a bug
Talad says: the loot is not associated
Jawir says: Ah ok!
Talad says: it’s ok in the test server, but not in production for some reason
Talad says: I will fix it right away
Jawir says: GREAT! =D
Jawir says: Ok, it’s all for me! 🙂
Nicoletta says: \o/
Talad says: it should be dropping molten ores
Talad says: like gold, …
Jawir says: lol
Zwa says: Hello!
Zwa says: The new progression system is very good.
Talad says: Greetings Zwa
Zwa says: There have to be some minor fixes indeed.
Zwa says: Regarding Body Development I have a question.
Zwa says: There was a discussion about training it with stamina.
Zwa says: Even a gym was set up next the Arena.
Zwa says: Are there plans to make the gym functionable?
Talad says: I know rules are working on it
Zwa says: To be able to train BD there?
Talad says: but I don’t have details
Talad says: yes, the idea was to allow players to train it in special areas
Talad says: but I didn’t follow the last discussions on it, so will be best to ask eonwind
Gova says: So I didn’t need to do 200 levels of ulbernaut wrestling?
Jawir says: lol I could be a gym addict IRL and ingame! XD
Zwa says: Thank you, Talad.
Damola says “Nice, so no need to get hit all the time to train it, which would ruin Damola´s taint”
Gova says: Actually the gym does sound like an awesome idea.
Talad says: to me we need to review BD and check if it’s not too powerful atm
Damola says: *complexion 🙂
Damola says: So how about a garden as well? How much would it be? And would it be possible to plant something into it and harvest it? Like carrots, or an apple tree?
Damola grins again
Talad says: mmmm
Damola says: I would like the idea to actually sow something and reap the benefits later instead of just harvesting wild plants.
Talad says: that’s a bit harder
Gova says: there is that space outside Hydlaa’s East gate. I’ve been picturing a farm on one side and perhaps other buildings on the other side. Lke a brewery or something.
Talad says: as it will mean to have a spawn just for a guildhouse
Damola waves with her millions of tria again
Damola nods
Sanrai grins
Damola says: Well… I wondered about it in general. But could lead to a huge mess if allowed everywhere
Talad says: I was envisioning parts of guildhouses getting expanded as you go
Talad says: example the doors you see in this one
Damola imagines uncontrollably growing stuff everywhere and guerilla gardening
Talad says: those doors could bring to other rooms you could “buy”
Damola nods “Well its just an idea, even for long term…”
Talad says: but at the moment there is no development on this
Talad says: but there surely be in the future
Damola nods “Thanks.”
Menille says: Expansion on guild houses would be welcome .
Eredin says: being able to add to a guildhouse would be consistent withthe idestoallow building.
Damola says: Guild houses with more than one room would be awesome… I know some roleplay more than one room in guild houses in Hyd
Shkirr says: And a good way of sinking tria
Gova says: So maybe a back door leading to a walled garden that’s a part of the guildhouse world space.
Eredin says: [sorry…my spacebar seems to be malfunctioning]
Sanrai says: brilliant Gova!!
Talad says: ok, I think we can close the meeting
Talad says: thanks for your participation
Talad says: and happy Easter
Yenida eyes Damola “Millions, eh?”
Jawir says: Happy Easter to you too 🙂
Sanrai claps for the devs
Waesed says: The update did wonders for Win 8.1
Menille says: Lots of good information to look forward to, thank you Talad.
Damola nods to Gova “Exactly. And in Gug there would be enough space for such a backspace garden.”
Damola says: Happy Easter!
Kabitar claps for the Dev Team.
Gova says: Happy holidays everyone!!!
Talad says: goodbye
