I recently became aware that almost all of this site is not accessible to anyone without an account. I am interested in hearing if there is a reason for this? I understand why unregistered users can’t edit or post things, but I don’t understand why it is not even viewable.

This site offers very useful information that would be very valuable especially for new users trying to find more info on the internet. Especially with the Planeshift community being so small and so little up to date information being available, opening the information on this site to the world would, in my opinion, very valuable.
